Walt Disney World Sets Summer Upcharge Event Schedule

Though 2020 just got started a few weeks ago, Walt Disney World is setting its schedule for the summer, and it looks like it is going to be a busy one for the resort! From the earliest Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party we’ve ever seen to the return of a well-reviewed water park event, here are all the important upcharge dates you’ll need to know for this summer!

    1. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off August 13th

Though it is typically thought of as a fall event, for 2020, it looks like Halloween is going to kick off earlier than ever this summer with the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party taking place in mid-August. According to Disney’s Magic Kingdom calendar, we will see our first 6:00 PM park close time on August 13thl which is typically an indication that a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night is happening that evening.

Though we don’t have official confirmation of this year (or information about price or tickets yet), based on the current Magic Kingdom operating schedule, it looks like there will be several party dates in the summer, including August 13, 15, 18, 21, 25 and 28.

Last year, Disney released information about the 2019 Halloween party in January, so hopefully we’ll know more about ticket price hikes, additional dates in the fall, and perhaps the return of the seasonal Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party Pass in the very near future

    2. H2O Glow Nights returns to Typhoon Lagoon in May

Disney H2O Glow Nights was a hit last summer and it looks like this upcharge after-hours event will return to Typhoon Lagoon this summer on select nights from May 27 to August 29, 2020. Guests attending the party can enter Typhoon Lagoon as early as 6:00 PM on event nights, and stay until 11:00 PM, enjoying attractions, special entertainment, food, and more. Here’s the full date lineup:

    • May 27, 30
    • June 3, 6, 10, 17, 20, 24, 27
    • July 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29
    • August 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, 29

Just like last year, during this evening event guests can enjoy special lighting effects around the park that will transform Typhoon Lagoon like never before as Buzz, Woody and Jessie throw a Beach Party inspired by their friend, “Partysaurus” Rex. In addition to the special character meet and greet opportunities as well as the dance party, all Typhoon Lagoon attractions will be open during this special event

Guests can now purchase H2O Glow Nights tickets early for a special discounted price of $65 (gate admission will be $75), and annual passholders/DVC members can purchase tickets for $59. Unfortunately, these are all up from last year’s $55 introductory price, but even with the price hikes, this event still seems like a good value for those wanting to experience Typhoon Lagoon after hours.

Though there are only two events on the schedule right now for the summer, we’d guess that more are coming, including Disney Parks After Hours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and perhaps even Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we’ll definitely keep you posted when those are announced!
