We’re less than a week away from the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and in celebration of the imminent opening of this new attraction, Disney has shared yet another sneak peek of this attraction that includes a first look at some of the action scenes in this attraction. Check out the video below for our most complete look yet inside this new attraction.
In addition to the above sneak peek, Disney has also filled in some additional details about how and when guests can experience this new attraction during the upcoming holiday season.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be open for Extra Magic Hours
Though Disney’s Hollywood Studios offered daily Extra Magic Hours after the summer opening of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, it looks like they will not be offering anything similar during the opening of this new attraction, as Disney has confirmed that Star Wars: rise of the Resistance will not be open during morning Extra Magic Hours at this park, at least during the holiday season.
Reportedly, this decision was made to give Cast Members extra time in the morning to get this attraction up and running and ready for guests. Because this attraction is so technically advanced, reports seem to indicate that it will require a lengthy pre-opening procedure during its first few weeks open, similar to what we saw during the opening weeks of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure over at Universal Orlando Resort earlier this year.
No FastPass+ will be offered for this attraction yet
Though there is a separate queue area for FastPass+ and MagicBand scanners can now be seen at the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, it looks like, at lease for now, FastPass+ reservations will not be available for this attraction, until at least the beginning of the new year, if not longer as Disney continues to look at traffic patters and comes up with a FastPass+ strategy for its’ Star Wars attractions.
No immediate operational changes planned for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
Though the addition of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will certainly have an effect on crowd levels and patterns inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, at least for now we will not be seeing any operational changes for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
This means that this attraction will continue to be the only attraction open during Extra Magic Hours inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this holiday season, and unfortunately FastPass+ reservations will continue to remain unavailable for this attraction for the foreseeable future.
Though guests visiting these two attractions inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge would undoubtedly love nothing more than to use FastPass+ or Extra Magic Hours to beat the lines this holiday season, it looks like for most guests, it will be a long wait in the standby line if they want to experience attractions in this new land. However, as holiday crowds dissipate, we expect Disney will revisit these policies in the new year, and hopefully guests will be able to have a few more options when planning their visit to this land from a galaxy far, far away.
