Here’s EVERYTHING That’s New at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2019

Though next month brings the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it will also see the earliest start ever for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom, which will kick off in just a few weeks on August 16th. And though the past few iterations of this blockbuster event have only seen the subtlest of changes year to year, 2019 will actually bring some pretty major additions to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, that fans will definitely want to know about

1. Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween parade gets new characters, costumes and float

One of the biggest attractions that keeps guests coming back to this seasonal event year after year is Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, which has new elements just for this year, including the following:

  • A new Tomorrowland float featuring The Incredibles and designer extraordinaire Edna Mode followed by Buzz Lightyear and Alien explorers discovering crystalline treasures on the surface of a planetary playset float (concept art above).
  • The Haunted Mansion float will feature a new addition, the spectral Bride, who glides among the waltzing spirits.
  • Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be wearing brand-new Halloween costumes.

2. New Halloween enhancements coming to favorite attractions just for party guests

Last year Disney experimented with plussing up some of its attractions with seasonal enhancements just for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and it looks like they are going to be doing this again in 2019, bringing back both the live actors on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and the special lighting and music at the Mad Tea Party. However, new this year, will be the following upgrades to existing attractions:
  • Space Mountain will go completely dark once again, but this time guests will experience the vast emptiness of space with a new “hard-rockin’” soundtrack.
  • The cast at Monsters Inc Laugh Floor will interact with visitors as they try to learn more about the holiday humans call Halloween.

3. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular announced for Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party

Disney has finally announced that the long-running Happy HalloWishes will not be returning, and its its place will be a new show that will feature state-of-the-art projection effects, lasers, lighting and dazzling fireworks that come together to tell a not-so-scary story about how anything can happen on Halloween night.

According to Disney the show will be hosted by Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” serving as the host. Jack’s ghost dog, Zero, will carry everyone along on a trick-or-treating adventure, where four friends – Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy – find themselves drawn into a mysterious haunted house. Their journey takes them from one room of the house to another, encountering dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts and a whole series of troublemaking Disney villains.`

4. Descendants 3 Dance Party comes to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party after a short stint at Disney Springs

Disney Springs will host the all new DescenDANCE Party in celebration of the release of the Descendants 3 movie. The dance party will take place July 26 – August 11 2019, from 7:30pm to 10:30pm on the Marketplace Stage at Disney Springs before moving to Tomorrowland for Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party beginning on August 16, where it will be available on party nights inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.

Of course, in addition to all of these new options, plenty of old favorites will be returning, including the ride of the Headless Horseman, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween-Ball in Tomorrowland will all be offered once again this year, as well as plenty of new and returning trick or treat stations around the Magic Kingdom as well!
