This week at Walt Disney World, it has been a light week for news, as the parks swell to capacity levels during the busy holiday season. Still, there are plenty of preparations being made for the upcoming New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day celebrations, Disney gives us a new inside peek at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and an attraction closes due to a guest issue.
Outside Walt Disney World, SeaWorld gets ready to kick off its own New Year’s Eve celebrations before heading into the Three Kings Day festival.
1. Disney releases Christmas Day preview for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
2. Miss Adventure Falls remains closed at Typhoon Lagoon following accident
Last week it was reported that there was a man who got his arms caught in a net on the Miss Adventure Falls attraction at Typhoon Lagoon. Though no injury was reported, Disney is keeping this attraction closed until this park’s refurbishment, just as a precaution.
3. The Art of Disney Presents Greg McCullough closing this week
As announced previously, the temporary pop-up shop The Art of Disney Presents Greg McCullough will be closing next week on January 1, 2019. No replacement has been announced for this shop.
4. Wine Bar George offering BOGO Champagne on New Year’s Day
To help ring in the new year Disney Springs’ Wine Bar George will be offering buy one get one free deals on champagne and sparkling wine by the glass from 11 a.m. to close on January 1, 2019,
5. New Year’s Eve fireworks to be livestreamed from Magic Kingdom on New Year’s Eve
And speaking of New Year’s festivities, Walt Disney World will livestream its New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Magic Kingdom on New Year’s Eve, beginning at 11:45 PM, and continuing until the new year is rung in officially.
6. SeaWorld Orlando to present New Year’s Eve fireworks on December 31
SeaWorld Orlando will again offer a special fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, which will be viewab;e from Bayside stadium.
7. SeaWorld Orlando to kick off Three Kings Day festival this week
SeaWorld Orlando’s Three Kings Celebration will be happening from Janurary 1-6 and will allow guests to join the Three Wise Men at a live nativity during a special show: The Tales of the Three Kings. Foodies will also be able to try Latin-inspired dishes such as empanadas, and papa rellenas, and sip on delicious drinks like a Frozen Sangria and Coquitos. During this special celebration, holiday offerings will remain available, including the Sea of Trees and O Wondrous Night.
