What Your Favorite Disney Ride Says About You

Everyone has a favorite Disney ride. For some, it’s the first ride they remember experiencing. For others, it’s one they return to time and time again. And for a select few, it’s the one they’ve written thousands of words about.

But the funny thing about Disney attractions is that just as much as attractions speak to us and our personalities, sometimes, the inverse is true: Sometimes, our personalities perfectly fit an attraction.

What do I mean? Well, if you have a favorite Disney ride, there’s a good chance we can learn something about you from it. Think of it like a kind of horoscope — only, this one is a lot more fun.

Here are a list of some of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World, and a description of who that attraction’s fans are. If you disagree with a description, well, that’s what comment sections were invented for.

Let’s go!

You’re the kind of person who, even now, likes to play make believe in the backyard … even if you don’t quite have time to do it anymore. You love adventure, and you miss the days when movies and TV shows depicted it. You like to push the envelope occasionally in life, but never too much. You probably have a “usual” at your favorite restaurant. Classics are classics for a reason, right?

“Why don’t we do great things anymore?” You might ask yourself that question as you read a history book, or as you walk out of an amazing documentary. But, if Space Mountain is your favorite ride, your appreciation of human achievement isn’t only academic. Thrills are as important to you as maintaining that idealism about humans’ capacity for innovation. The only thing better than admiring the ability to fly to the moon and back using only a pencil and a slide ruler is making that observation while traveling 40 mph in the darkness.

While you like The Ronettes, you love Amy Winehouse. You believe the past is worth appreciating, as its stories and styles are unique and worthwhile. But simply parroting the past isn’t interesting enough for you. You want a remix — a reimagining of the vintages of yesteryear. But even though you like the modern era, you still miss that easy-going pace of times gone by. Basically, you like a disconnected stroll through the woods … with a GPS on hand, just in case you get lost.

Sometimes, people think you’re sad or angry or upset when you’re really just lost in your own thoughts. Instead of getting frustrated with that confusion, however, you enjoy it — and even use it to cultivate a bit of mystery about yourself. You love telling stories to anyone who will listen — kids, friends, customer service representatives. And, you remain convinced that if the zombie apocalypse ever came true, you’d have the skills to survive a long time.

While at work, you often find yourself staring out the window — daydreaming about your next vacation. When you aren’t at work, you like to be in places where people congregate — cafes, parks, the mall — just to do some people-watching. You wish you didn’t have to own a car, but you also don’t enjoy riding the subway or bus enough to switch. You write about Disney in your free time.

You’ve been called an “old soul” at least once before, and you’re pretty sure it was meant as a compliment. You still possess and use items that were given to you as a kid, including shirts, bags, and kitchen goods, in part because you’re too attached to them … and in part because you’re too lazy to change it up now. Not only do you have a favorite show tune, but you’ve also sang the words aloud in public and said the phrase, “they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to.”

It stresses you out when your phone battery gets below 50%, so you always make sure to carry an extra charger around with you. You don’t particularly care for reading fiction books, but you have read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and enjoyed it a lot more than you thought you would. While you probably don’t talk about it too much, you really like movies that are based on true stories — they’re always so inspiring.

You’re not afraid to admit it: You don’t love change. You don’t like moving if you don’t have to, and you don’t like buying a new car if you don’t have to. If there’s a restaurant you enjoy eating at, you’ll keep going back until it closes or until you perish — whichever comes first. Most importantly, you always have headphones in, even when you’re getting ready in the morning. A soundtrack is vital to you.

When you were growing up, all you wanted to do was make movies. Now that you’re an adult, you realize how hard and thankless that is, so instead, you just love watching movies. Maybe Hollywood doesn’t make great movies anymore, but there’s enough you haven’t seen that it’s hard to get too mad about it. You like horror, but you don’t get scared easily. When you are scared, your adrenaline rushes more than most.

You studied abroad in college (or, you at least tell people you did), and you think about the lessons you learned while abroad every other day. The most important lesson you learned, of course, was not letting fear overcome you and take control of you. Sometimes, you might feel like you get lost deep in thought — but when you snap back into the real world, you’re fully engaged and energetic. You like to solve problems, and people have often told you you’re good at it.

If you aren’t a professional artist, you at least think that you could of been had you found the right art teacher as a kid. You love being outside, and hate feeling cooped up indoors all day. Every once in a while, you wake up and remember the dream you were having — and it’s almost always something good. You have lots of plants in your home, and your friends often say they’re jealous at how well maintained they are.

So, you see, your favorite Disney ride can also provide a brief glimpse into your soul. Maybe it’s less that you picked a favorite Disney ride, and more that your favorite Disney ride found you.
