The 9 BIG Updates from Walt Disney World (and Beyond) This Week (November 18-24, 2019)

This week at Walt Disney World, A big Epcot project gets delayed, Cinderella characters come to a special upcharge event, plus Disney releases a discount ticket deal for the end of 2019 and beyond!   

Outside Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando offers deep discounts for Black Friday, and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure wins a major award! 

1. Space 220 restaurant delayed until 2020

Though it was originally slated to open this year, with only a few weeks to go and no opening date announced, many were wondering if there had been a delay with the opening of this location, and now a recent job posting by Patina Restaurant Group seems to confirm this suspicion. According to the job posting, this new location will open in early 2020, potentially in February.  the operator of the upcoming Space 220 restaurant at Epcot, suggests an opening of the new restaurant in early 2020.

2. Magic Kingdom’s Early Morning Magic gets a Cinderella plus-up

Disney is adding some extra fun to the Magic Kingdom’s Early Morning Magic upcharge for eight event dates from February 11, 2020 through March 3, 2020. On these special dates, this early morning event (which includes a buffet breakfast and pre-park opening access to Fantasyland attractions like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight and the Princess Fairytale Hall) will include special enhancements themed to the film Cinderella. 

In addition to special Cinderella themed breakfast menu items, guests may see some of their favorite characters from this film like as Suzy, Perla, Fairy Godmother, Drizella and Anastasia, and Prince Charming popping in to celebrate this special occasion.

3. Living With the Land gets holiday overlay

Epcot is celebrating the holiday season in Future World with the debut of a new holiday overlay: Living with the Land: Merry and Bright Nights. This new evenings-only offering allows guests to experience this attraction with an overlay of holiday lights and decorations in the greenhouse section of this Epcot favorite. Because of the seasonal nature of this attraction, Living With the Land will be extending its operating hours and will now be open until park close from now through the end of the year. 

4. Jock Lindsey’s “Holiday” Bar overlay coming this week

And speaking of holiday overlays, it looks like, Disney Springs watering hole Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will be transforming into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar on Monday, November 25th. Though we don’t exactly know what this entails, we’d guess some holiday decorations, specialty drinks and music will be on offer during this seasonal overlay. 

5. New behind-the-scenes look at Cirque du Soleil show released 

Disney has shared a new behind-the-scenes video giving fans a sneak peek at the still-unnamed Cirque du Soleil show that will debut at Disney Springs next year. Previews for this show will begin on March 20, 2020, with an official opening set for April 17, 2020. 6. “Magic” ticket returns for holiday 2019 and most of 2020

Walt Disney World is now offering a new version of the 4-Park “Magic” Ticket, which is is a four-day ticket that includes one admission to each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks (one park per day) from $89 per day, plus tax (from $356 total, plus tax). If you want to take advantage of this money-saving ticket deal, here’s what you need to know:

  • Guests must select a start date on or before Sept. 30, 2020, and the ticket expires seven days after the selected start date.
  • Prices vary based on start date selected; lower prices may apply on certain dates
  • Guests can add one admission to one water park and one admission to NBA Experience for an extra $40, plus tax (ages 10+)

7. Frozen 2 comes to the Norway PavilionFrozen 2

In an effort to keep the Frozen attractions in the Norway pavilion as relevant as possible now that Frozen 2 is in theaters, guests who visit with royal sisters Anna and Elsa can see them in their new outfits from Frozen 2. However, be aware that these outfits are from the “finale” of this new film, and could be considered a spoiler if you haven’t seen the movie yet. 

8. Hagrid’s Magic Creatures Motorbike Adventure honored with achievement award 

Though much of this year’s Themed Entertainment Awards (TEA) praised was heaped on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Universal was honored with an “award for outstanding achievement” in the Attraction category for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which opened this past in June at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade inside Islands of Adventure, which just so happens to be our Park of the Month. 

9. SeaWorld Orlando offers deep discounts for Black Friday shoppers
