8 Romantic Ways to Celebrate at Walt Disney World

There’s no question that Walt Disney World is romantic, but sometimes it’s associated so closely with kids that you can overlook some of the more adult options on-site. If you’re planning to celebrate an anniversary, honeymoon, engagement, Valentine’s Day, or other special event while you’re at Disney, there are several special extras you can add to your trip. Even if you’re not in town on a celebratory date, you can use these romantic touches to let your special someone know how much you care.

    1. Book a Romantic Dinner for Adults

So many of Disney’s restaurants are geared toward children, that it’s easy to forget there are quiet adult options as well. The best (and most expensive) option for an adults-only meal is Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian, where small children aren’t even allowed and adults must adhere to a dress code.

While all other restaurants are family friendly, you’ll find a more sophisticated atmosphere at some. Some of the best options for a romantic dinner for two are:

    • California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
    • Le Cellier at Epcot’s Canada Pavilion
    • The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
    • Monsieur Paul at Epcot’s France Pavilion
    • Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
    • Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
    • Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
    • Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom
    • Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot

Make your reservation early to guarantee a spot. If you’re celebrating a special event like an anniversary or honeymoon, make sure you pick up celebration pins and let your server know about your special day.

    2. Take a Carriage Ride

There are few things more romantic and relaxing than a quiet carriage ride for two. Horse-drawn carriage rides are available at two locations on Disney property. At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, you’ll ride through the heavily wooded area, taking in the lush pine and cypress forest around you. Visit in the winter months and you can take a holiday sleigh ride instead in a “sleigh” decked out with garlands and lights.

Head to Port Orleans – Riverside for a waterfront ride along the Sassagoula River. Dripping with southern charm, this picturesque spot is less rugged, but more sophisticated. You can make reservations for your horse-drawn carriage rides up to 180 days in advance.

    3. Rent a Surrey Bike Together

Surrey bikes for two give you the opportunity to take a quiet bike ride side-by-side with your sweetie. Bike rentals are available at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The two are connected by rustic paths through the woods so you can bike from one to another. At Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside, you bike along the paved paths by the Sassagoula River. The Boardwalk offers Surrey bike rentals as well, so you can bike down the picturesque boardwalk past gift shops, restaurants, funnel cake stands, and the sparkling waterside.

    4. Order Flowers to Your Room

If you’re celebrating your romance at Walt Disney World, surprise your sweetie by ordering a special bouquet sent right to your room. Discovering the fresh flowers in your room is sure to add something special to your day. Disney offers bouquets to suit any taste. Order a Disney Dozen of red roses, and you’ll get a special thirteenth rose wrapped in gold and sprinkled with pixie dust so you can make a wish. If you’re not a fan of the traditional rose, options like the Sprinkle Her with Pixie Dust bouquet offer a beautiful blend with gerbera daisies, snap dragons, and lilies.

    5. Toast to Your Love

End your romantic day with a special toast by ordering a romantic celebration delivered to your room. The Let’s Celebrate package includes two bottles of Banfi Rosa Regale sparkling red wine, two Disney flutes, and Ghirardelli chocolates. The Toast to Happily Ever After package features Wishes sparkling cider or champagne, keepsake Mickey flutes, crackers and cheese, and gourmet chocolates. You can substitute your own favorite wine in either package.

If you prefer to create this celebration yourself from scratch, you’ll find most resort gift shops also offer a special selection of wines and wine glasses as well as chocolate, cheese, and crackers. Make your choices together, or sneak your picks up to the room as a special surprise.

    6. Celebrate with a Cake

If your event needs an extra sweet touch, order a specialty cake with your dinner. Personalized cakes must be ordered at least 72 hours in advance, but more generic celebration cakes can be ordered upon arrival at most table-service restaurants. Whether you want to add a surprise dessert to a romantic birthday dinner, or simply tell your special someone how much they mean, the arrival of a cake at your table is sure to make an impression.

You can also order treats like Minnie’s Sweetheart Cake to your hotel room. This “cake” is made of confectioner’s chocolate and is perfect for splitting.

    7. Book a Massage for Two

    Disney Spa

Stop by the Senses Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort for a refreshing treatment. Both spas offer a massage for two where you can create a custom experience shared with your loved one. You can also book a Spa for Two package that lasts over two hours and includes a custom firm massage and 50-minute pedicure.

    8. Take a Fireworks Cruise

Enjoy the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom or Illuminations at Epcot from a pontoon boat. If the setting isn’t special enough, you can add romantic extras to your cruise as well. Turn any cruise into a private celebration by ordering balloons and a banner for your event. You can also add a personalized cake, light appetizers, champagne and strawberries, or a full meal onboard. Private dining and celebration packages come at an additional cost.

If you want to make your Disney vacation more romantic, one of these extras will help you plan a memorable stay for two. Don’t forget to look for his and hers souvenirs like Mickey ears and towels so you can take some of the romance home with you as well.
