When you stroll through one half of Epcot, you walk through 11 countries – all without leaving Florida. You can take a leisurely boat ride through Mexico, feast on bratwurst in Germany, and even learn about American history from Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain themselves! But did you know that there’s room for several more countries at World Showcase? Here’s a list of 8 countries that could fit into the World just fine.
1. Ireland
A lush, green Ireland pavilion would be right at home in Epcot. Entertainment could include Irish dancing and Celtic storytelling, and a Circle-Vision 360° movie could showcase all of the country’s beauty. And of course, guests wouldn’t want to leave without sampling cuisine such as Irish stew, corned beef and shepherd’s pie. A pub featuring Irish brews could round out the area.
2. Greece
A pavilion featuring the unique history and architecture of Greece would be a great addition to World Showcase. Shops and restaurants could feature Greek columns as well as tzatziki, gyros and baklava. And Disney already has a wealth of attraction and entertainment ideas to explore that could be based on the “Hercules” movie. How about a ride where you “fly” with Hercules and Pegasus?
3. Brazil
Imagine walking through the colorful, Carnival-themed land of Brazil, with the tantalizing scent of a sizzling steakhouse in the air, while you’re on your way to an Amazon-themed water ride. This country would fit into Epcot perfectly!
4. India
Inside a replica of the Taj Mahal could be a restaurant serving the best Indian cuisine, and a covered market outside could display a selection of saris, food and jewelry for sale.
5. Australia
The Australia booth is already a popular stop at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, and the country’s garlic shrimp, lamb chops, barbecue and beer could easily find a permanent home at World Showcase. Performers could entertain crowds with didgeridoo music, and a ride could take guests through Sydney and the outback.
6. Egypt
Egypt’s mythology and architecture could be a welcome addition to World Showcase. A pyramid façade could house a variety of different rides inside – from a Nile River cruise to a roller coaster through ancient tombs. A sphinx replica could serve as a landmark as well as a prime picture-taking spot.
7. Switzerland
Just as the Karamell-Küche shop brings visitors to Germany, the sweet aroma of a Swiss chocolate shop could entice guests to hurry to a Switzerland pavilion. This country is full of ideas for other attractions too, including a Swiss Alps cable-car ride or a version of Disneyland’s Matterhorn. Yodeling could provide a fun form of entertainment.
8. Jamaica
Though it’s a small nation, Jamaica’s rich history and culture would be a great asset to the World Showcase. Guests could follow the sounds of reggae to a restaurant with spicy island foods, indulge in native beer and coffee, and perhaps walk through a replica of Dunn’s River Falls.
So there you have it – 8 countries that could be added to the World Showcase. Can you think of any more ideas? Add them below!
