The 8 BIG Updates From Walt Disney World (and Beyond) This Week (November 1-7, 2021)

 ​This week at Walt Disney World, more character “sightings” return, a fan favorite show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios returns, plus a new discount is announced! 

Outside Walt Disney World, Universal brings back its BOGO deal, and SeaWorld gets ready to celebrate the holidays!

1. More character “sightings” are announced to be returning later this month  

After a successful launch of character “sightings” last week it has been announced that two more characters meet and greets will be reopening as sightings on November 19, 2021: Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Mickey Mouse meet and greet inside the Disney Pixar Short Film Festival at EPCOT. 

2. Disney Movie Magic returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Disney Movie Magic projection show has returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this weekend, with daily performances now scheduled through the holiday season. This show will begin each night at 8:40 pm, with another projection show, Disney’s Wonderful World of Animation following at 9 pm.

3. New discount for annual passholders announced 

Walt Disney World is offering a new discount available for both Florida residents and annual passholders for resort stays in early 2022. Guests can save between 10% and 25% on rooms for stays most nights from January 2, 2022, through March 10, 2022 using this new deal. The offers are applicable for a minimum of one night and a maximum of 14 nights. Florida residents can learn more here and annual passholders can log in here to see their potential savings as well. 

4. New mask guidelines in place for Walt Disney World Cast Members

Walt Disney World has announced that it has relaxed its mask requirement for Cast Members effective this coming week and will no longer require masks to be worn for fully vaccinated employees in backstage areas. However, it looks like masks will still be required for Cast Members when in guest-facing indoor areas, regardless of vaccination status. 

As of right now face coverings are still required for all guests (ages 2 and up) in all indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout all indoor attractions and indoor queues and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are optional in outdoor areas.

5. Harmonious soundtrack now streaming online

Disney has released the soundtrack from Walt Disney World’s new nighttime spectacular Harmonious, featuring the full 21 minutes of music from the show. You can stream the album right now on streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify and more. 

6. Jingle Cruise sets sail at Magic Kingdom

The holiday-themed Jingle Cruise overlay of the Jungle Cruise debuted this week in Adventureland, bringing guests on a holly jolly tour of the world’s most exotic rivers from now through the end of the year. 

7.   Universal brings back BOGO Deal 

From now through December 16, Florida residents can take advantage of a new buy one day, get one free ticket deal, which includes admission to both Universal Studios Florida. The tickets can be used on non-consecutive days through February 4 but there are limited blockout dates over the holiday period.

To get the offer, tickets must be purchased online at the official Universal website here. At checkout, you will need to enter a promo code from specially-marked cups available at participating Wendy’s.

8. Holidays return to SeaWorld Orlando next week

SeaWorld Orlando will be kicking off its annual Christmas Celebration next week on November 12 with the park transforming into a winter wonderland with more than 3 million sparkling lights. Guests can enjoy holiday entertainment, from the all-new Sounds of the Season to the fan-favorite Sesame Street Christmas Parade; grab a picture with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer; or head to Wild Arctic and visit Santa himself. Take a stroll through a wintery, watery wonderland immersed in a sea of twinkling holiday trees that sparkle to music as they light up the water. Dazzling images come to life on over 100 trees, including a giant glistening centerpiece that towers 70 feet above the water. Walk along the water’s edge for some holiday shopping at the Shoppes at Waterfront as a magical flurry of snow falls over SeaWorld Orlando while holiday sounds and smells fill the air.
