Though it may not initially seem like it, Disney parks have truly come into their own in recent years as a real food lover’s paradise. If you count yourself as one of the many who love eating their way around the Disney parks and resorts, there are some big changes taking effect right now you should know about.
For August’s dining update, we take a look at a new restaurant set to open in just a few days, an expansion at Disney Springs, some new information about an upcoming restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, plus fall drinks come to Joffrey’s.
1. BoardWalk Deli set to open at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort in a few days
BoardWalk Deli is expected to open sometime this week at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, as the finishing touches are being placed on the new location’s exterior in preparation for its grand opening in the very near future.
When it opens this new location will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will have a brand-new menu that will include breakfast pastries, like scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls and croissants, as well as bagels, savory warm sandwiches, wraps, salads and a variety of desserts. The full menu is now available on the Walt Disney World website here. When it opens guests can order at the counter or have the option of using the Mobile Order feature of the My Disney Experience app.
2. Permit filings suggest opening is near for Roundup Rodeo BBQ
A new permit filing from Walt Disney Imagineering seems to suggest that the long-delayed Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios could be opening soon. The permit, which was filed several weeks ago, calls for the installation of “themed facades,” which could be a sign that this project is entering its final phases.
When completed, the Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be located near the entrance of Toy Story Land and will be a table service offering. This new dining location will be located in front of Toy Story Land, near the giant Woody Toy Story Land entrance sign and will be themed to resemble a new “rodeo” play area assembled with cardboard boxes cut and taped together. The restaurant will have two large dining spaces. Barbecue food, which will reportedly be served family-style will fill the menu for guests to enjoy.
Disney said earlier this year that Roundup Rodeo BBQ will open in 2022, but has not mentioned any specifics since then. However, with the D23 Expo around the corner perhaps we will get an announcement about when exactly this new restaurant will open inside Toy Story Land in the near future!
3. Chicken Guy expanded seating area now available at Disney Springs
Quick service location Chicken Guy has been a hugely popular location for guests trying to grab a quick bite since it opened in 2018. However, because the location had such a small dining area, guests would frequently have to wait 30 minutes or more for a table, often leading to lines that went around the building.
However, as of this week a brand new indoor seating area that uses part of the adjacent Planet Hollywood store area more than doubles the current space inside this restaurant and brings hi-top and bar seating to the restaurant along with USB outlets that can be used to charge your devices. This newly expanded area also features a drink refill area as well as bathrooms.
4. Fan favorite Fuzzy Tauntaun drink returns to Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
The fan favorite Fuzzy Tauntaun drink, which can make guests’ mouths feel a little tingly disappeared from Oga’s Cantina menus several months ago. However, it looks like this drink, which is made with Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Orange Juice with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, and “Buzz Button Tingling” foam, is now once again available for space travelers passing through Batuu to enjoy, as it is back on the permanent menu at this location. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the only place where this specialty drink is available, so if you want to try it for youself you’ll need to secure entry into this busy galactic watering hole you’ll definitely want to make a reservation at the official website here.
5. Hot and iced fall drinks now available at Joffrey’s Coffee locations at Walt Disney World
Though summer may still be wrapping up, Joffrey’s is embracing the fall spirit with three fall drinks that are now available at all Joffrey’s locations in Walt Disney World and Disney Springs: the Pumpkin Pie Latte, Pumpkin Game Changer, and a Caramel Apple Chai Tea Latte. These drinks are all available either hot or iced at all Joffrey’s kiosks around the resort and can be purchased from now until the end of the fall season in late November.
6. Chef Morimoto makes quick visit to Morimoto Asia to help in the kitchen and meet fans
Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will be visiting Morimoto Asia this Sunday, August 14, and Monday, August 15, during regular service at the restaurant. During this quick trip to the restaurant guests can find the world-famous chef mingling with guests while also lending a hand in the kitchen and the sushi bar. Chef Morimoto will also be available for meet and greet opportunities. Reservations for these two dates are now available at the Morimoto Asia website here.
7. Hollywood & Vine Buffet reopening later this month
Buffet-style eating has been unavailable since the park reopened back in 2020 but it was announced last month that popular Disney’s Hollywood Studios eatery Hollywood & Vine would be resuming its buffet-style service later this month on August 28th, replacing the current family-style service at this location. Characters will continue to meet and greet guests at this restaurant as well. The full menu for this returning experience has not been posted yet, but reservations for the buffet-style experience are now available on the official restaurant website here.
