As of today Walt Disney World theme parks are officially closed for business, until at least of the end of the month, if not longer, due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having to cancel plans due to this closure, here is everything you need to know about Walt Disney World’s policies regarding tickets, annual passes, FastPass+ reservations and more.
1. If you have a hotel stay
Though Walt Disney World’s hotels remain open as of March 15, 2020, those who have booked hotel stays during the closure have two options:
Rebook for a stay on a different date: Change fees for all hotel stays through June 20,2020 have been waived, and guests can call the Disney reservation center at (407) 939-4357 to make arrangements for a rescheduled vacation.
Cancel hotel stay and receive a refund: Guests who wish to cancel their reservation in the coming days can also call the reservations hotline and ask for a refund, but because the phone lines are so busy, Disney is automatically cancelling and refunding guests who do not check in for their hotel reservation, so it may be wisest to just do nothing and let the automatic refund take effect.
2. If you have theme park tickets
Guests with multi-day theme park tickets with unused days, or date-specific theme park tickets with a valid use period during the period March 12 through March 31, will have their tickets automatically be extended for use on any date through December 15, 2020. No action is required on the part of guests, as this change will automatically take effect.
Guests who aren’t able to visit the parks by this date can apply the value of an unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date at the ticket window or by phone after the expiration date has passed.
In addition, the special limited-time Florida Resident Discover Disney Ticket use window has been extended through July 31.
3. If you have an annual pass
All Walt Disney World annual passes will be extended by the number of days the parks are closed, which right now are March 16 through March 31, but could be extended. In addition annual passes with an expiration date during this closure will have additional time to renew once the closure ends. As of right now pass monthly payments will still be drawn as usual for guests using the monthly payment plan.
4. If you purchased special event tickets or have pre-paid dining reservations
If you purchased special tickets for Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours and Disney Early Morning Magic between March 16 and March 31, you will be automatically refunded. In addition, if you have pre-paid dining reservations during this period, you will automatically be refunded, no action is required on your part.
5. What about my FastPass+ reservations?
If you have FastPass+ reservations during Walt Disney World’s closure, unfortunately they have been cancelled, and can not be used on alternate dates. You can of course re-book FastPass+ reservations when the resort reopens, but the ones that you previously had are unfortunately gone forever.
