5 Refurbishments Coming Soon to Disney Parks and Resorts (November 2019)

Disney parks are constantly changing their refurbishment schedules, making it difficult for guests to keep up with the operating times and latest news regarding their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few big, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by their respective parks or at the least very strongly rumored for the very near future.

This month’s refurbishment update includes some big refurbishments happening next year at Disneyland Resort as well as some interesting refurbishments at Walt Disney World as well…

1. Indiana Jones Adventure (Disneyland Park)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: TBA 2020

We’re big fans of the Indiana Jones Adventure here at Theme Park Tourist, and it looks like this ride is finally getting some attention after going over 5 years without a major refurbishment. According to the OC Register Disneyland filed a building permit with the city of Anaheim for a major overhaul of Indiana Jones Adventure, and Disneyland officials have confirmed that a refurbishment is coming sometime in 2020.

According to the permit, a plank bridge and its steel structure in the show set of the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction will be replaced, and some cosmetic upgrades will be performed as well.

2. Snow White’s Scary Adventures (Disneyland Park)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: TBA 2020

Over in Fantasyland, another iconic Disneyland attraction will be getting some attention next year as well. Snow White’s Scary Adventures will be closing sometime next year, and it sounds like some major changes could be part of this refurbishment, as a permit obtained by the OC Register states that refurbishment work will include the removal and replacement of show sets, props and scenes. In addition during this refurbishment, new structural beams will be installed, rock work will be refurbished and electrical upgrades will be made.

3. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (Magic Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now – TBA

Back over at Walt Disney World, it looks like Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is getting a touch up at the Magic Kingdom. Though it is expected to remain open, the queue for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is set to get a much-needed refurbishment, with several walls going up inside this attraction last week. We don’t know how long this refurbishment will last, but hopefully the front of this attraction will get the sprucing up it has been needing for the past several years.

4. McDonald’s (near Disney’s Animal Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now – TBA

The McDonald’s restaurant near Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closing for an extensive refurbishment on October 30 2019, and will remain shuttered for the rest of the year with a planned reopening happening sometime in 2020. This refurbishment will bring an updated look to this restaurant. Shortly after its closing last month, the entire McDonald’s building was demolished, and it looks like this location is being rebuilt from the ground up in preparation for a grand reopening next year.

5. Beaches and Cream (Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: August – TBA 2020

The Beaches and Cream restaurant at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort closed earlier this year for a lengthy refurbishment, with a tentative reopening set for December 2019. However, it looks like things are taking a bit longer than anticipated, with an early 2020 reopening now projected for this popular eatery.

During this closure, the interior of the restaurant is being remodeled, but the theme will remain the same. The interior seating area is also being expanded so that this popular location can accomodate more guests.
