Upcharge experiences are definitely the new normal at Walt Disney World, and this month has brought some interesting updates for guests looking to add a little something “extra” to their next trip to the resort. From a pair of very special After Hours events at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to a special little extra at Epcot and an upcharge coming this fall to the Magic Kingdom, here are all the little extras you can add to your Walt Disney World trip!
1. Disney’s Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary After Hours
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating its milestone 30th anniversary in just a few days and there will be plenty of amazing limited time entertainment and merchandise for guests who can make it to this special day.
After the park closes, there will also be a special anniversary edition of Disney After Hours that will not only feature walk-on access to the park’s most iconic rides (including the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash), but also some beloved Disney characters ready to greet guests in the Chinese Theatre Courtyard, at Star Wars Launch Bay and more. There will also be a special encore performance of “Wonderful World of Animation” the new nighttime projection show, which will allow event attendees to experience this brand new show (which brings guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation, all beginning with Mickey himself, and featuring beloved Disney and Pixar characters from films like Wreck-It Ralph, Coco, The Incredibles, Frozen, Cars, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and more) with a limited audience.
2. May the 4th After Hours
And speaking of After Hours events at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, on May the 4th (known to some as the unofficial “Star Wars Day”), there will be a special Disney After Hours event at the park where guests can meet a number of characters from the Star Wars universe such as Chewbacca with Rey, Kylo Ren with Captain Phasma, and more.
At this unique After Hours event guests will be encouraged to dress up in costume to become even more immersed in the story (as long as their costume fits into park guidelines). Plus, Guests can kick off their night of Star Wars excitement with a bang by viewing Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at 9:30 PM. after the park closes to regular guests.
3. Mask-making experience at Epcot
A new mask painting experience is now available for guests visiting Epcot’s Italy pavilion.Located in the mask shop La Gemma Elegante, a resident artist will be on hand to assist Guests with painting their very own Italian mask for display during a special upcharge experience that will last 30 minutes and cost $30 per guest. Those wanting the experience this fun little extra can ask about it and make reservations from inside the show.
4. New fireworks dessert party at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Of course with a new fireworks show, Disney will be introducing a new dessert party for guests wanting a guaranteed viewing area for the as-yet unnamed new show. As has been the case with prior dessert parties, guests can indulge in a wide buffet selection of treats, including chocolate-dipped strawberries, cupcakes, ice cream, seasonal fruits, cheeses and other ghoulish goodies at Tomorrowland Terrace. This dessert party is available for $84 plus tax for guests ages 10 and older and $50 plus tax for guests ages 3 to 9, and can be booked online or by phone.
