When the upgraded MagicBand+ was released at Walt Disney World back in July, eager Disney fans queued for hours at stores around the resort to be among the first to get their hands on the interactive wristband. And if you are one of the thousands who have been enjoying using the new device to interact with Fab 50 statues around the theme parks, play the bounty hunter game at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, or enjoy the flashing lights during the resort’s nighttime spectaculars, there are some new updates surrounding this new product that you may want to know about:
1. MagicBand+ devices purchased at Walt Disney World will work at Disneyland
The Orange County Register published a report earlier this week that confirms that MagicBand+ devices purchased at Walt Disney World will work at Disneyland Resort when MagicBand+ launches at the west coast parks. Right now there is no concrete timetable for when that might be, but with work already started on cloning the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge bounty hunter game for the west coast, we’d imagine that MagicBand+ will officially launch at Disneyland very soon, potentially before the end of the year. And when it does, those who already have a device from Walt Disney World will be ready!
2. Charging cords now sold separately
One of the big differences between the regular MagicBand and MagicBand+ is that the latter must be charged regularly for guests to enjoy its enhanced functionality. And though each MagicBand+ comes with its own proprietary charging cable, guests who lose or break the cable previously had to purchase another MagicBand+ to get a new cord. However, Disney is now selling standalone MagicBand+ charging cables specifically for those who find themselves in this situation. The MagicBand+ standalone charging cable accessory is priced at $7.99 and can be purchased anywhere MagicBand+ devices are sold.
3. Most standard edition MagicBand+ devices are available online
If you are planning a future Walt Disney World vacation and want to get your MagicBand+ devices early, most standard-edition MagicBand+ wristbands are now available though the online ShopDisney website. Although accessories like the aforementioned charging cable and limited edition bands are not currently sold online, ShopDisney does have a decent selection of MagicBand+ designs you can check out here.
