The 3 BIG Updates From Walt Disney World This Week (February 22-February 28, 2015)

    Central Plaza

This is the weekly news, rumors and refurbishments update for Walt Disney World for the week of February 22, 2015.

Here are the three biggest updates from around the resort for the past seven days.

    1. The new Central Plaza Gardens are now open at Magic Kingdom

The Disney Parks Blog has released beautiful images of the Central Plaza Gardens. Having visited the new gardens and walkway myself, I can see a definite improvement and have high hopes for the rest of the Central Plaza construction project.

The new Gardens will be used as a Wishes Fastpass+ viewing location at night, but are open to everyone during the day. The artificial turf is a great idea and brings a park feel back to Magic Kingdom Park. There might not be any visible benches, but if you look closely some of the railings are raised and pushed back to provide seating. A clever way to add seating without cluttering the walkways with benches.

The center of the Central Plaza, including the currently boxed-in Partners Statue is expected to be completed mid-March. The north side of the Central Plaza will be completed before the end of this year.

    2. Dates for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary and Very Merry Christmas Party are now available.
