The 3 BIG Updates From Walt Disney World This Week (April 12-18, 2015)

Great Movie Ride

This is the weekly news, rumors and refurbishments update for Walt Disney World for the week of April 12, 2015.

Here are the three biggest updates from around the resort for the past seven days

1. The Great Movie Ride is being repainted

With the removal of the Sorcerer Hat, The Great Movie Ride is now the center of attention at the end of Hollywood Blvd. Unfortunately the show building has been neglected for the past 14 years, with issues like peeling paint marring this once-grand icon.

Fortunately, some much needed love is being brought back to the only original attraction left in the park. The roof of the facade is being painted and the original spires in front of the attraction (which were removed several years ago) are scheduled to make a return in the very near future.

The new sponsorship with TCM will also bring an updated finale and new video montage in the queue later this spring.

2. Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package are now available

Frozen Summer Fun

Frozen Summer Fun will be returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the popular Premium Package are now available for dates between June 17 and September 7, 2015.

The Premium Package costs $69 per adult and $39 per child (ages 3 to 9) and include:

  • Reserved viewing location for Frozen Royal Welcome that includes soft drinks and ice cream.
  • Reserved seating for any one showing of For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Singalong.
  • Frozen Fireworks viewing and Dessert Party, that includes specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Reservations can be made online or by calling 407-939-3463

3. Flame Tree Barbecue will open later than expected

Flame Tree

Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will reopen from refurbishment on May 23, 2015. This is the third extension to this refurbishment, originally set to open on March 1, and then April 22.

Hopefully no more extensions are needed and the popular quick service location can reopen with an expanded covered queue and covered seating.

The dishes normally served at Flame Tree can be found at kiosks throughout the park until the restaurant reopens.
