As Disney continues to work through its opening weeks at Walt Disney World, some changes have become necessary as the resort adapts to guest behavior post reopening. We’ve already seen Disney change its policy not once but twice in regards to face mask usage in the parks, and now we are seeing even more adjustments as the resort works to keep guests as safe as possible.
Mask wearing strike squad deployed to enforce new mask rules
Much like they did during the early days of Disney Springs’ reopening, Disney has been deploying their social distancing team, who are now carrying signage that reminds guests to “wear a face covering unless stopped to eat or drink.”
This team has probably been out in full force in recent days to try and enforce Disney’s newest mask rules, which state that guests can not walk around with their masks off while eating and drinking around the parks.
We’d guess that while guests are still adapting to this new rule, this squad will be out and about in force around all the theme parks, and especially Epcot, as this park is having a slimmed down Food and Wine festival, and it may be hard for guests to remember to stop and eat especially as they are likely used to just walking around the park with their food and drink. Fortunately, Disney has come up with a creative solution for this too.
Pop up dining surfaces can now be found all around Epcot’s World Showcase
Even during normal circumstances, finding a place to eat during any of Epcot’s many festivals can be tough. And now that guests can’t stroll around the World Showcase with their food and drink, Disney has had to be a little bit creative about how they handle this experience so that as many guests as possible can experience the festival without issue.
Fortunately, over the past few days Epcot Cast Members have installed some pop up tables around the World Showcase that guests can use to take a break, take off their mask, and enjoy their food on.
These little pop up boxes are not that big (and honestly kind of look like trash cans) but its good that Disney is giving guests who want to experience this festival some options as there just aren’t that many places to stop and dine (while remaining socially distant) at Epcot, but with these new additions everyone should get a chance to enjoy the best of the Taste of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival in the coming weeks.
Though these are only two rule changes, we expect there will be many more in the coming weeks and months as Disney continues to adapt to the “new normal” when it comes to keeping guests safe at Walt Disney World.
