This is the weekly news, rumors and refurbishments update for Walt Disney World for the week of March 8, 2015.
Here are the two biggest updates from around the resort for the past seven days.
1. Construction progresses as Rivers of Light debuts in just one year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Projected to be completed in March 2016, Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park will soon make its debut. With opening only one year away, let’s take a look around.

2. Phase 2 of the Magic Kingdom Central Plaza expansion has started
With the south side of the Central Plaza now open with new Fastpass+ fireworks viewing areas, work has begun on the northern half of the Central Plaza.
The north planters around the Partners Statue are now complete. Work will soon begin on the new south planters in the center of the hub.
For anyone wondering why Disney is doing all of this work. Here is the new Central Plaza walkways during the Festival of Fantasy Parade in peak season.
It is much more enjoyable and easier to navigate around the crowds.
