Located on the seafront at Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England, Adventure Island is a free-to-enter amusement park. It hosts five roller coasters and a number of other thrill rides, along with gentler rides for younger guests. Visitors can choose either to pay for each ride individually, or to buy wristbands that enable unlimited rides for a single day.
Park History
Adventure Island first opened to the public in 1976, located to the west of Southend Pier. It grew gradually over the proceeding two decades, before the purchase of further land enabled a major expansion in 1995. In recent years, the park has made some significant additions, most notably the installation of Rage, a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster, in 2007 at a cost of £3 million.
